What to Do When You Cannot Attend a China Exhibition in Person
Missing an exhibition does not mean losing access to the market. A buyer can still use the exhibitor list, pre-event outreach and a local representative to identify suppliers, collect evidence and hold structured remote meetings.
Define what you wanted from the event
- Find new manufacturers.
- Meet existing suppliers.
- Compare new products and pricing.
- Collect samples or market intelligence.
- Build distributor or technology partnerships.
Research the exhibitor list remotely
Use the official exhibitor directory, category map and company websites to create a prioritized list. Separate must-contact companies from general market-scanning targets.
Arrange a local representative
- Provide a written brief and target list.
- Book meetings before the event.
- Define questions, evidence and sample requirements.
- Set authority limits and reporting format.
- Schedule daily review calls while the event is running.
Use remote meetings selectively
Video calls from a busy exhibition floor can be noisy and superficial. Use them for introductions or key product demonstrations, then schedule a focused follow-up meeting after the event.
Build a usable event report
- Supplier and contact details verified at the booth.
- Products observed and how they differ from current options.
- Indicative MOQ, price and lead time with clear assumptions.
- Photos, brochures, samples and unanswered questions.
- Recommended next step and priority level for each lead.
Continue with normal due diligence
A representative’s visit improves access, but it does not replace supplier verification, sample approval or factory assessment. Treat exhibition findings as the start of a sourcing or partnership process.
